Atomic Tuesday: Knock Me On My (gl)Ass!

Welcome to Atomic Tuesday!

I have no words for today's vintage pick. I can't...I just can't. No words to describe. Oh wait. Yes I do. Words like: "JUMPING JESUS ON A TRAMPOLINE, LOOK AT THESE GLASSES! HOT DAMN AND HOLY MOSES RIDING A SCOOTER! MAMA LIKEY. MAMA LIKEY ALOT! 7t@@#4@/8**!" (Yeah, there's some gibberish in there too. That's how much I love today's pick and the ridonkulous affect they have on me.) They'll knock you on your (gl)ass too, I bet!

See for thyself:

How much do you love these Vintage 50's Set of 8 Pink & Gold Atomic Starburst Glasses? And if you prefer your glasses to, say, have pictures of the Hamburgler and Mayor McCheese, swearing one day that your 1986 McDonald's juice glasses are certain to be top-dollar collectors items one day, well, then good luck with that. (Although, those kinda rock, too.)

(Glasses are currently available on Etsy from seller Patsy's Place.)

Atomic Tuesday: Jumping Jack(et) Flash

Step right up to this week's Atomic Tuesday!

I was going to do an entirely different post today, but then I came across this seller and my whole thought process got derailed and headed into a different direction. Who, me? Easily distracted? Shocking. I blame the weirdly, spring-ishly warm weather we're having. It's good to blame other things than yourself, I say. But you know, ... oh look! something shiny! did somebody say Cheetos? hey, "All in the Family" is on! ... See? It's just *that* kind of day.

Anyway, check out these atomic, 50's style cropped jackets:

Cute, right? The seller is Janie's of Miami, and all of her repros are one of a kind and made from either upcycled vintage textiles or new barkcloth. And if you don't dig the atomic thang, she also has fab tropical barkcloth jackets as well. (You can click on her name link to visit her shop!)

My (Aqua) Blue Heaven Friday: Shirt Happens

Photobucket

It's another Aqua Blue Heaven Friday, kids! Today's post is gonna be like Mini Me, on the short side, because I have very important lounging-around, junk food-eating and all around slacking to do, and you know me: if you want something done right, you gotta do it yourself.

I heard from a peep or 2 that they'd like to see more stuff for men around here. I can only assume they meant boobs, beer and beef jerky, but, sorry to disappoint, vintage clothing for men will have to do. I've been looking around for a while now and like a lot of the aqua themes here, finding cool vintage men's shirts in some kind of aqua isn't exactly easy. Of course, there are tons of Hawaiian shirts in aquas, but I didn't have Hawaiian shirts in mind. I didn't find many regular old standard 50's and 60's shirts. I wonder why that is? I'm sure they had to be popular back in the day, no? Maybe it was just an off week for finding them? It couldn't be that aqua is too girlie because, hell, men were wearing pink in the 50's. Even ol' muy macho Rico Suave himself Ricky Ricardo wore pink on occasion. This is too much thinking and it's cutting into my Twinkies and Maury Povich "Who My Baby Daddy?!" time, so please enjoy these vintage 50's-60's men's shirts!

My Aqua Blue Heaven

Well, it's Friday and I don't know about you guys, but it's been a particularly long and rather on the craptacular side and weird sort of week. Hows about some vintage aqua crap to get this partay started? Good. No chatty, just the facts. Enough with the blahbity-blah already, let's rock and/or roll.

This is gonna be another long one~ (that's what she wishes she said) with a whole lotta pictures going on. I think today may be even more bandwithier than my last post. I'm getting out of hand and must be stopped.

Today's Aqua Blue Heaven theme is serve ware- dish sets, platters and serving dishes. Joy! Fun for the houesewifey types, boring for the menfolk here, I bet. (Don't worry, fellers- I'm planning on a manly theme for you coming up soon, so you male types can go back to watching your ping pong matches or Field and Stream magazines or dry humping your Bo Derek posters or whatever it is that you do.)
