Aqua Blue Heaven Friday: Smoke 'Em If You Got 'Em!...Or Not.

Welcome to Aqua Blue Heaven Friday!

Photobucket

A little over 3 months ago I began a whole body transformation, inside and out. I'm planning on writing a full post about it soon, so I'll just give you a quickie rundown: I started going to the gym regularly, completely overhauled my diet to the point of being a part-time vegetarian (lay off me PETA jerks), no alcohol (I know, I know! I can only joke about being drunk all the time--hey! I'm like Dean Martin now!) and I quit smoking for good. Naturally, of all the things I changed in my life, that was the hardest. Now if only I could get off crack, my transformation will be complete. (I'm kidding, people! Sheesh. I meant to say meth.)

So suffice it to say, when I found today's vintage pick of this Vintage Leather Wallet, Lighter & Cigarette Case Set for sale on Etsy, my heart wept. In my "smoking days" I would've been all over this set, but it's juuust not the same using a cigarette case to hold your tampons and crack pipe.

Isn't it a great set?! It's one of those things that you didn't know you had to have until you saw another gal pull it out of her vintage purse and then you'd covet the hell out of it. At least, *I* would! Plus the set is new old stock and has never been used! Waaaant it. Oh well. Back my rice cakes.

And The Winner Of "The Vintage Housewife" Giveaway Is...

...EARTHA KITSCH! (Eartha, you can drop me a line at pinktrailer (at) yahoo (dot) com and let me know your name & mailing address!) Thanks to everyone who played along and mucho grande thanks to all my lovely new followers! (You guys kinda rock pretty hard, you know that?)

Normally I would literally pull a name out of a hat, but this giveaway had so many people that I used random.com to randomly shuffle your names, and lucky Eartha Kitsch was #1, randomly. (Pennyblossoms, you're the runner-up, should Eartha not be able to fulfill her contest-winning duties.)

So now that I'm *officially* at 300 followers as of today, we can rock our next vintage giveaway, as promised! (damn, that was fast!) Stay tuned for that coming up in the next week or so! (damn, did I mention that was fast?!)

Way-Out Wednesday: God Save The Keane

Welcome to Way-Out Wednesday!

Photobucket

Many moons ago I expressed my love/hate relationship with vintage Keane paintings. (You know the ones: the big-eyed street urchins, usually dirty and/or barefoot, standing alone in an alley? Yeah, those cheerful ones.) While I do love the kitsch factor of them, (and you KNOW I generally love sad/grumpy/murderous-looking things), I just can't wrap my head around the borderline-suicidal, extreme sad factor of them. So what a great surprise it was to find not a bona fide Keane, but a fantastic knockoff. May I present this Vintage Paint-By-Numbers Painting, currently available on Etsy from seller Arctic Timberwolf, who, incidentally, sells nothing but big-eyed things, so it's your lucky day if Keane makes you randy...

Photobucket

Why so sad, street urchin? Is it because you have tears made of flesh, for some reason? Is it because the nuclear blast that has obviously burned your face off has also disfigured your butterfly turning it into a giant mutant freak? Is it because your pizza has melted and fused into your underdeveloped, baby dinosaur arm? Tell me! I must know!

Prints Charming Sunday: Life In A Northern Town.

Welcome to Prints Charming Sunday! To all my new amigos joining us, lemme drop a quickie explanation: Prints Charming Sunday is where I spotlight a seller's vintage novelty print (usually from the 1940's-50's), on a vintage dress, skirt, menswear, toilet seat cover, beer keg cozy, whatever. The wackier and whimsical-ier the print, the better!

So now, I give you today's pick, this Vintage 50's Jantzen New England Novelty Print Blouse:

Photobucket

Most folks associate Jantzen with swimsuits, but the company banged out some pretty cool non-swimwear fashions! Like this blouse. I love it. Alot. The seaside village, the boats, the old-timey barrels that I like to think holds beer, the...fishnet. It's wicked awesome. It's so...well, so New England, obviously. (Did you catch my New England joke in there with dropping "wicked"? Yeah, I know it was cheesy. It's how I roll.)

Photobucket

Look at the back! It's sailortastic.

The blouse is currently available on Etsy from seller Joules Vintage for a mere 35 clams! (Get it?! "Clams", as in money? And clams are a New England food type thing? And today's print is all about the seaside type vibe? Yeah, that was bloody awful. These are the jokes, people.)

Rock Stars! All Of You Crazy Kids, Rock Stars!

Just wanted to pop in here before doing our weekly Sunday post and scream the biggest, fattest, most awesomest THANK YOU to all the new followers here and the overwhelming interest in my vintage giveaway! (Well, not so much "scream" at you, more like "whisper delicate gratitudes to you all, delivered on the wings of doves while Kenny G serenades us on a cloud." Or whatever.

At any rate, you guys rule and I'm very grateful. (Very shocked, also.) I've been slowly following all of your own blogs back- it'll take some time, but I'll follow you all eventually! Pinky promise. Getting to 300 took way less time than I figured it would and I'll be doing the next vintage giveaway before this one is over! Looks like we'll be partying like it's 1959 before you know it.
