Atomic Tuesday: Back To Basics

Thanks for stopping by this week's Atomic Tuesday!

Maybe it's the grey/icy/frigid/hellishly annoying weather or the winter "blahs", or maybe the new year has me inspired to make some overhauls but I've been transitioning into a more minimalistic thing lately. No longer feeling it necessary to hang onto so many "extras" of things, cluttering up my life mojo (a girl only needs so many clocks/lamps/drapes/glasses/so on and so on) that I've been throwing out (well, not "throwing out", but donating/giving away, etc.) things I'm not in love with anymore. And today's vintage pick sort of reflects what I mean, when it comes to decorating the mid-century modern way. While today's pick isn't anything "drop dead" or over the top in any way, it's one thing the MCM fan must have. Keep it simple, keep it classic~ the timelessly cool Vintage Atomic Starburst Bellevue Clock:

  1. I'm so with you on this! It was not until a month ago that we were able to get a starburst clock, though I’d wanted one for years. We live in a small condo with not a lot of wall space and a LOT of art taking up the wall space we do have. We finally moved a tall bookcase into the bedroom (something totally not MCM that we’ve never liked but haven’t found a suitable replacement for, so we decided we’d rather let it live relatively ‘hidden’ behind the bedroom door) and moved our bar into the space that opened up from the bookcase. Suddenly we had room above the bar, and we knew immediately what was going there: a starburst clock. And boom! First time out antiquing and we found one in great condition for a good price, from a local watch/clock company, Elgin. I am sooo pleased to finally have one.
