Its Blog Tag Wednesday at the eVintage Society!
You can’t turn on the TV, walk past a magazine rack at the market or eavesdrop on ladies chatting at lunch (what, like you don’t do that?) without being assaulted with images and stories about the big screen debut of “Sex and the City”. Which, as we all know, is less about a riveting plot line than it is about FASHION! So lets dish!
1)We know Carrie favors vintage, but let’s dress them all! Like cyber paperdolls. To kick it off, show us a piece you think the quirky, eclectic and whimsical Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) would look great in from your inventory.
I picked out a vintage 50's sweater for her, instead of something that looks like one of her usual over-the-top dresses. I think this one is just quirky enough for Carrie to rock! You can see her rocking it with a clashing polka dot skirt, no?
2)Samantha (Kim Cattrall) works the vampy edge of fashion…what do you have in your inventory that can bring out the temptress in a woman?
This might be a stretch for Samantha, but I think she could skank it up quite nicely. I chose this silver lurex 60's Estevez number with a low back. If she wore it skin tight with stilettos it'd be vampy enough even for her.
3)Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) tends to play it safe, tending toward clean lines and classic silhouettes with the occasional sexy edge. What do you have in your inventory for her?
She's definitely the little black dress type, so I think this simple 60's Gay Gibson crepe cocktail dress would work on her. It's not too girlie, just like her!
4)Charlotte (Kristin Davis) is often seen in more feminine, flirty and girlie pieces. What vintage dress or ensemble do you have that would work for her character?
She's painfully Jackie-O, the matching hat-gloves-purse-shoes type. She could pull of this 60's matching splashy raindrop print handbag and hat! I don't have it listed yet, but it's coming soon!
5) Sex and the City Shoes. Stilettos? Of course! If you’ve got some vintage shoes to rival Carrie’s Jimmy Choos, show ‘em off here!
I don't really do shoes, sorry kids!
6)Love the show? Hate the show? Never seen it? Do tell. No spoilers if you’ve seen the movie!
At the risk of having a torch-and-pitchfork angry mob after me, here goes. I know as a female I'm *supposed* to look up to these 4 chicks, but I find them whiny and really annoying. They're needy and clingy, they twitter on and on and on about clothes and wanting a boyfriend, wanting a husband.... as if getting all that will somehow make them less pathetic...it gets old, fast. That being said, I love the show, go figure. It doesn't make me envy them, it actually reassures me that my meager little life is actually pretty kickass after all.
