Way-Out Wednesday, Valentine's Edition: Wild "Thing", You Make My Heart Sing

Welcome to our 2nd week of Way-Out Wednesday's Valentine's Day edition!

For all you fans of unnecessary quotation marks, you'll probably enjoy today's pick. Fans of anthropomorphism, you'll like the dumbass, cartoony face of today's pick. Fans of turning everyday objects into filthy "bedroom items" will surely appreciate today's pick. And finally, fans of suggestive double entendres, well I'm sure you pervs will have a field day with today's pick.

I give you this Vintage 60's "Thing" Valentine's Day Card", from Etsy seller Orbiting Debris:

Oh my sweet doily hat-wearing, toilet paper cardboard tube hair spray can vibrator, I've been waiting for the day you'd ask me to do a "thing" with you! One quick question though: you do, of course, mean we should file our taxes together, right? That's so sweet! You make everything groovy.

Holiday Horrors, Valentine's Edition: You Give Love A Bad Name

For the next 3 weeks, there's gonna be a twist on our usual Way-Out Wednesday theme! It's called Holiday Horrors: Valentine's Day Edition, where we still show off, run away from, make fun of, get nauseous from, get scared of or just plain old adore a strange and unusual vintage item. Only with a Valentine's Day theme which is, if you ask me, pretty scary enough to begin with. (As is using a 1980's Bon Jovi song in your blog post title.)

Photobucket

Vintage Valentine's Day cards from the 1940's and 50's are one of my most favorite things. Not for their lovely-dovey, sugar sweet "I-can't-live-without-you" sentiment (ptooey) but for their psychotic, obsessive, and deeply disturbing "I-can't-live-without-you" kind of crazy. So to kick off today's theme, I present to you this Vintage 40's Moving Eyes & Tongue Valentine Card, available on Etsy from seller Orbiting Debris:

I had to read the listing before I "got" that the blob with 6 eyes is actually a potato. A potato man, sorry. A potato man who's one obsession-driven step away from installing hidden video cameras in your house, cutting his hair to match yours and boiling your pet bunny. Ain't love grand.

Atomic Tuesday: Hello, World, Hear The Song That We're Singin'. C'mon Get Happy!

Welcome to Atomic Tuesday! (And yes, I do realise I forgot all about Prints Charming Sunday, sorry 'bout that.)

Photobucket

Fortunately, when scouting around online to find something to post about for our Atomic Tuesday theme, I came across this super cool, super wacky Vintage 50's Atomic Tablecloth with a mystery print of, like, depressed chickens and Turkish lamps (I dunno, I just made that up. I don't even know what Turkish lamps *are*, but I imagine they're something like what's pictured on this) from seller Neato Keen ...

... UNfortunately, for some reason it reminds me of the opening credits of the Partridge Family tv show, which in turn makes the theme song get stuck in my head, and that, my friends, will not make me "get hap-eee!" (I knew that freakshow Danny Bonaduce was demon spawn. I just knew it.)

Way-Out Wednesday: Baby Did A Bad, Bad Thing

It's time for Way-Out Wednesday, kids!

Photobucket

Speaking of, you know what's generally not very amusing? Kids. Especially other people's. Also not exceptionally amusing on their own: pipes, string, top hats or heavy eyeliner. However. Put them all together and you know what you get? Comedy gold.

Behold, the creepiest and therefore awesomest Vintage Smoking Boy Chalkware String Holder:

Atomic Tuesday: Back To Basics

Thanks for stopping by this week's Atomic Tuesday!

Photobucket

Maybe it's the grey/icy/frigid/hellishly annoying weather or the winter "blahs", or maybe the new year has me inspired to make some overhauls but I've been transitioning into a more minimalistic thing lately. No longer feeling it necessary to hang onto so many "extras" of things, cluttering up my life mojo (a girl only needs so many clocks/lamps/drapes/glasses/so on and so on) that I've been throwing out (well, not "throwing out", but donating/giving away, etc.) things I'm not in love with anymore. And today's vintage pick sort of reflects what I mean, when it comes to decorating the mid-century modern way. While today's pick isn't anything "drop dead" or over the top in any way, it's one thing the MCM fan must have. Keep it simple, keep it classic~ the timelessly cool Vintage Atomic Starburst Bellevue Clock:

Prints Charming Sunday: Paint Life Grand

I'm baa-aack, after a very long week of snow, more snow, wind, down power lines, power loss and oh yeah, did I mention the friggin' snow?! Because we northeast types had a just a wee bit of it, in case you haven't heard. So I'm glad you've popped in to this here much-missed Prints Charming Sunday, bringing you the finest vintage novelty prints around!

Photobucket

I think we could use a happy little print to peep, don't you? Something to remind us that spring is indeed going to come soon enough, allowing us to put away the flannel and pain in the ass snow boots and break out cool vintage for warm weather, like this Vintage 60's Painter's Palette Print Skirt, available on Etsy from seller Lola Vintage:

Photobucket

Seriously, this print makes me so damn chipper, it's ridiculous. My inner art nerd is kvelling. Did I happen to mention it's a mere 18 bucks?! Because it is. 18 clams, my friends, 18 clamaroonies. If it wasn't too big for me, I'd be all over it like...something that's on something. Sorry. A clever response escapes me at the moment, because of this damn happy.

Prints Charming Sunday: Great Snowballs of Fire

Welcome to a very arctic Way-Out Wednesday!

Photobucket

If you're just about anywhere in the US right now, you're probably under an assault of snow and freeziness. Gross, I'm with you. (HOW much longer 'til spring? Sigh.) But today's vintage novelty print pick is almost cute enough to make you forget that outside feels like a meat locker! Almost. Except for the tiny fact that it's a skiing print. So I guess you can't forget about winter after all, can you? Damn. Nevermind.

Photobucket

At any rate, this Vintage 50's Ski Gear Novelty Print Skirt available on Etsy is still charming enough to cure what ails you, assuming of course that what ails you is anything but the cold. Then you're out of luck, my friend.

Behold the closeup of the cute:
