Way-Out Wednesday: Man Caves Need Curtains Too

This week's Way-Out Wednesday is all for the guys! Well, mostly. What I'm talking about is novelty print fabric~ but manly! *Do the Tool Time grunt here* While I know we female types really dig our girlie fabric and cutesy-tootsy prints, what about the guys? Don't their Man Caves and Dens of Testosterone and Rumpus Rooms de Machismo deserve to be well-decorated too? I'm sure The Mister wouldn't want curtains with, say, ballerinas on them. You know what they say: real men don't wear pink. Or cook. Or eat quiche. Or hang ballerina-print curtains. No! They want their curtains to reflect their inner cave man. You know, I'm assuming.

So while today's theme may not necessarily be "way out", I think men and women alike will appreciate this slightly kooky fabric that's geared mostly towards the... rugged woodsmen?...or whatever manly job men dream about having...in every man.

Atomic Tuesday: Sonic Boom

Howdy, kids! It's Atomic Tuesday once again! I had an entirely different theme picked out for today, but then I saw this piece-o-awesomeness and knew I had to post about today. Not only is this really cool, but I can't believe I found it on Etsy of all places! (I don't really associate Etsy with large pieces of furniture, then again, I don't exactly go scouting for it online, either!)

Behold, the joy that is called the Vintage 50's 2-Tiered Boomerang Table. The seller is calling it "Danish Modern", though there's no mention of maker in the listing, so think of that what you will. I have a 50's rectangle coffee table and matching 2-tiered end table set that look identical to this- same blondwood, same legs, etc. and it's as generic as the day is long. In fact, true story: I got the 3 pieces- for free-from a neighbor who had it out on their sidewalk for trash pickup! I snuck over there in the middle of the night and took them. Even though they were throwing them out, I felt all kinds of sneaky and wrong about it. But I got over it.

Prints Charming Sunday: Leaf It To Me

Apparently I love themes way too much, have an abundance of time on my hands, am a glutton for punishment or the voices in my head are clocking in overtime, because I decided to start a brand new weekly theme around here called "Prints Charming Sundays"! What is it, you're probably not even asking? Prints Charming Sundays will showcase a different vintage novelty print each week. Everyone adores a whimsical or kitschy novelty print and having it on Sundays seems like a good way to end the weekend. That, and booze. Lots and lots of booze.

So to kick off the 1st Sunday of novelty prints is this rockin' Vintage 50's Autumn Leaf Blouse from Art Deco Dame. So fab for fall!

Halloween Friday: Big Kitty After Dark

Today's the 2nd installment of Halloween Fridays and today's theme is the black cat! Usually a sign of bad luck and misfortune if they cross your path, if you believe in that sort of wives tale-y sort of thing. I prefer not to have any cat cross my path because I just don't like them. I know, I know, I'm a chick and apparently my gender is supposed to simply adore cats, but oddly, I do not. Cats suck, in my book. But I do like the image of cats, for what it's worth!

In conclusion, black cats in cartoons= awesome. Real life ones= not at all awesome. That's the point I took too long to get to.

So today's picks are all over the map- some are actual 50's vintage, some are homemade from charming Etsy crafty types, but I think all are cool for what they are, and I hope you dig 'em too. Enjoy!

Vintage 50's Rhinestone Cateye Sunglasses. Are these not the cattiest of cat eye glasses you've ever seen?! They're wicked cool and so...well, catty!




Vintage 50's MAX FACTOR Hypnotique Sophisti-Cat Perfume. I can't stand that sort of sugary pun on words (like Sophisti-cat)- even though I've on occasion thrown out some pretty corny ones myself- but I'll give ol' Max a pass, because, I mean, rhinestone eyes and pearl necklace makes up for the cutespeak! I wonder what it smells like? Cat? (Wait, eeeew...)

Every Girl's Crazy 'Bout A Sharp Dressed Man! Oh. Wait. Nevermind.

Wow. I mean, yikes. I never thought I'd see the day when a men's outfit made Fred's choice of wardrobe on Scooby Doo look not gay. But this pattern? I mean...I just...can't not look away...seriously, what the hell? What are those, like, green patent leather pirate boots? And the last outfit...sweet merciful crap...I gotta say, the white skinny belt totally makes it. Nice work, McCalls.

Way-Out Wednesday: Don't Send In The Clowns

I think for the rest of the month I shall do nothing but post a creepy-ass vintage doll for Way-Out Wednesdays because there are justsomanyofthem. Either that or start a second blog where I do nothing but post a different creepy-ass doll every day, but that's already sounding pretty ambitious and like most things in this here blogland, it's probably already being done a million and one times by a million and one goth girls, so maybe it's not such a novel and marvelous idea after all. See how self-sabotaging I am? What is wrong with me? There should be a pill for that. Oh right, there is. It's called the "shut the hell up you nut bar and get on with the show already" pill. Or maybe it's just called Valium. Whatever.

I certainly hope you guys aren't bored to tears with clowns because, I mean, damn there are a ton of 'em out there. Almost all of which are scary or creepy or disturbing. My fabulous life of jet-setting to swanky Euro cities, lounging with the elite and living the lavish life of champagne and caviar has taken over lately.
